This works best with impressionable younger children. It is probably a waste of time with teenagers, so start early.

A mom interviewed in the New York Daily News came up with Dirty Basketball.

She put a basketball hoop over a laundry bag in her son's room. She rewards "baskets" of dirty clothes with quarters.

"Never underestimate the power of play," she said. "And money!"
