Is it just me or does it seem like winter will never end? Today is the first day of spring, so even though it is pouring rain outside right now, I refuse to give into this winter nonsense anymore. Time to start planning the garden, patio and other outdoor areas for me so that I'm ready when the clouds break! Adding color to the patio can be as simple as planting annual blossoms in small pots or along a path border. But this early in the season can be risky, with frosts still expected in much of the country.

When it comes to making food last, I’ve long been a fan of the freezer. Whether it’s bread or pasta sauce, freezing food can be a great way to make sure you always have certain items on hand. Frozen sliced bread simply has to be toasted to be ready to make a sandwich, and hard cheese is actually easier to grate when frozen. For those little cans of tomato paste that you’re never able to use up all at once, I like to put individual spoonfuls in a plastic bag and freeze them so I have the exact amount I need ready to go next time I have a recipe that calls for it. It’s also nice to have frozen vegetables around, like peas or broccoli, to make any meal healthier.
What this has meant for my freezer though is that it is always a disorganized mess of bags and containers falling out every time I open it. It was time to get my freezer organized, but first I had to find the right storage.

I consider myself to be a pretty avid basketball fan, particularly college basketball. So I am not sure what my excuse was last year when I was woefully underprepared for the year’s biggest basketball tournament, the NCCA Final Four. It all started when I basically ignored the regular season and had no idea which teams were looking strong heading into the tournament – my bracket ended up being a total mess. To make matters worse, I had no idea what weekend the first round of the tournament was, so my media stand was a mess and terribly inadequate for the task at hand. I did not have time to upgrade my stand in time for the big game, so we were left watching the game on a fold out table!

It would seem like having a lot of counter space in your bathroom would be a good thing. You say to yourself, a pedestal sink is so pretty but it is so much more sensible to have a counter. Until the day you don’t have a counter anymore because it has been overtaken!
It all starts out feeling harmless. A soap dispenser, a toothbrush holder, maybe a jar with cotton swabs. You congratulate yourself because you hung the hairdryer on the wall. But then the lotions and potions, your husband’s aftershave, a candle, and a few hair products arrive.
