The Joys of Fall
This year, for some reason, I’m not quite ready to let go of summer. Maybe it’s the flip-flops and sun dresses, I don’t know. But I do love fall! So, in an effort to say good bye to summer, I’ll tell you why I love fall.
The leaves – The colors! I love how you can see the full range of colors from green to yellow to red all on one tree. My daughter and I like to collect them right from the trees, dry them and use them in arrangements or as fall decorations around the house.
The air – I love the crispness to the mornings! Where I live, it still gets warm in the afternoons this time of year, but the mornings have that crisp, distinctive autumn feel to them. I love to go for early walks and drink it in.
The first rain – The smell, the sound, the sight – it touches all the senses and brings them to life! I can’t wait!
The comforter – Almost time to put the down comforter back on the bed. Paired with my feather bed, it’s like a lovely nest that’s way too hard to get out of on a chilly morning.
The baking – I love to bake! It's finally getting cool enough to fill my home with that delicious warmth. Apples crisp from my apple tree, warm banana bread, zucchini bread from the garden, and every kind of bread I can find a recipe for.
The boots – No, this has nothing to do with nature, but I love boots! I get to break them out now and put together a whole new wardrobe that I haven’t been able to wear for months. Can’t have too many pairs of boots. Or scarves.
