I got this because I make my own bread for everyday use, and really have a problem cutting a straight slice of bread without any guides.
Now I have this and use it every day for bread and rolls.
Just adjust a little when I want a thinner or thicker slice.
Catches the crumbs great, too.
and, having used it for almost a month, I haven't managed to break it, yet.
I do hand wash it, because my dishwasher dries too hot and tends to warp things.

The bread holder is very expensive, but seems to be well made. I read reviews of other holders and they did not look good. Hope this works as advertised. The construction looks sturdy and, wonderful surprise, it is made in the USA!!!

This slicer is difficult to use and the slices are too thick. I will return it for a refund. I would not recommend it.

The slots on this are too wide for bread slices. Other than that is is easy to use but I wouldn't use it except for bagels. I had to buy something different for bread.

We never baked our own bread until a few months ago. We found out a few months ago, though, that my youngest has a severe soy allergy and there's little by way of decent, affordable bread available that's safe for him to eat. Discovering how delicious home-baked bread is a definite silver lining to this situation! We make wonderful, healthy, 100% whole grain, soy free bread at home that we all love.

This slicer made our process complete. We all had a hard time slicing the bread thin enough, but now every slice is perfect. Even if my son outgrows his soy allergy, we'll never go back to store-bought bread!
