The slots on this are too wide for bread slices. Other than that is is easy to use but I wouldn't use it except for bagels. I had to buy something different for bread.

We never baked our own bread until a few months ago. We found out a few months ago, though, that my youngest has a severe soy allergy and there's little by way of decent, affordable bread available that's safe for him to eat. Discovering how delicious home-baked bread is a definite silver lining to this situation! We make wonderful, healthy, 100% whole grain, soy free bread at home that we all love.\n\nThis slicer made our process complete. We all had a hard time slicing the bread thin enough, but now every slice is perfect. Even if my son outgrows his soy allergy, we'll never go back to store-bought bread!

The slicer is exactly what I was looking for except that it makes the slices way too thick. If you are looking for bread slices that are similar in thickness to commercially sliced bread you buy at the store, then don't buy this product.
