Seasoned and beginner star gazers alike will enjoy the ease of use and optical quality of the CC-872 Refractor Telescope. Terrestrial viewing is extremely easy due to the included 45-degree diagonal which produces a totally erect image. The CC-872 telescope is mounted on an Altitude Azimuth yoke mount. The Mount features a slow motion altitude adjustment rod for precision adjustments, and is attached to a very sturdy, fully adjustable, pre-assembled metal tripod with retractable rubber feet. The telescopes optical tube assembly is finished out with a large 1 1/4" format focus tube.
The astronomical telescope's tube assembly features an 800mm focal length. The objective lens is a 72mm two-element achromatic (color correct crown & flint) air-spaced objective lens. The tube itself is aluminum, painted flat black internally and fully baffled for excellent visual and CCD imaging. The objective is fully multi-coated and has a resolving power of 1.61 arc seconds. The optical tube assembly is diffraction limited at 1/4 wave in Sodium light. The diagonal consists of a 45-degree Schmidt prism that is fully coated in Magnesium Fluoride (refractive index: n = 1.38). The Mars' Eye electronic Finderscope helps by getting the observer behind the telescope without losing the surrounding field of view when targeting objects. Included with the CC-872 are a 1 1/4" 6.8mm to 16mm zoom eyepiece (42-degree apparent field of view at 6.8mm), a 1 1/4" 20mm eyepiece (52-degree apparent field of view), and a 3 element 3x Barlow. The telescope is made of high quality metal, plastic and glass. All of its many features mentioned above make it the ideal telescope for the home and field.
