This thermometer has a timer with a loud 5 minute alarm that works with the thermometer. The probe wire measures 43" long and the unit requires one AAA battery (included).

    Be careful when cleaning. My wife routinely immersed the probe when cleaning (She doesn't read manuals). The thermometer now says that everything, even cold tap water, is at least 275°. I will buy another one though.

        Greatly simplifies any cooking that requires that the cook controls or monitors temperature. We especially like it for frying. This is our 2nd thermometer/timer. The first got clobbered and no longer stands upright for easy viewing - still works fine.
