The horizontal cross bars are paced so low they don't allow anything as wide as a standard size dinner plate, large pot lids or pizza pans to stand up in the vertical grooves. Those are such common items it significantly reduces the racks usefulness.

I replaced all four of the aluminum rivets with stainless steel screws and nuts. This was done because two of the rivets had bent and popped out in transit. The other two were getting ready to pop out, as well. Once that was done, this became an awesome drying rack.

I. Designed with no drip mat in mind: I've used 4 different mats for underneath this thing and nothing works--the pods slide all over the place on bigger mats, and this thing needs a HUGE mat. It really could use some rubber on the bottom of its feet so it wouldn't slide.
2. THE CATCHES SLIP, causing it to occasionally collapse unless you check up on those catches, monkey with them, make sure they're ok.
3. LARGE PLATES WON'T balance because of another design flaw: two parallel bars going lengthwise prevent the plates from nestling into the perpendicular grooves.

I got this to replace a dishrack that broke and I must say, I'm almost glad the other one broke haha the design on this really makes the most out of space. I thought the design would look odd (with the cup holder jutting out), but it doesn't at all. What a great piece!

Shopper: did anyone else feel like the picture of the white dish rack is misleading? The white rack is pictured with cup holders on both sides but the actual rack only has cup holders on one side.
Sondra M: I was asked to reply to your question since I bought a dish rack in 2011. However, I bought the stainless steel one that does have cup holders on both sides. I love the dish rack mainly because it folds up and can be stored under the sink when I need the counter space.

Dana H: No, there is not a tray attached to the base of the rack or in the package with it. I have used a thick towel, but any sort of rubber-type tray (from Wal-Mart or wherever) would be very good to have.

Michael M: No, there is not. We use one of those absorbent counter pads instead of a tray. It works very well and is much easier to store than a plastic tray. Overall, I am very happy with this dish rack.

James V: You will need to place a tray or other product underneath however, this product is WELL worth the money as we searched the entire internet looking for a smaller dish rack that stores a lot but doesn't take up much counter space. This is the one! Having the fingers on the top ends for hanging cups is what really makes the difference. We'd buy it again in a heartbeat.
Charlene L: You will have to buy a tray separately. Also, I found that my large dinner plates do not fit in the rungs very securely. They tend to fall backwards. Smaller luncheon size plates are fine.

Barb Z: I bought this rack and absolutely love it. It cleans up nicely and does not mold like some wooden ones do. I use an absorbent towel pad (about 18" X 15") and it absorbs all of the water, can be easily washed and looks nice too. The rack does not come with any type of water collection.

Dorothy F: I don't remember if there is a bottom tray, but I use mine on the kitchen counter and wipe underneath occasionally. This works fine. It has held up well for 1 1/2 years and I would buy it again.
Robin R: No, you have to buy that separately. I bought a clear plastic dish drainer tray and you don't really notice it on the counter top. Overall this is a very nice dish rack!

I use my dish rack everyday and I believe the steel one will last even longer than the one I currently have did.
