Dish Rack - Folding by Better Housewares

A folding dish rack saves valuable space on the kitchen counter, allowing you to use it only as needed.  Drip-drying dishes is the earth-friendly way to go!

Only the platinum #10020 has a double capacity cup or glass space while the white does not.

BUT... had to retrofit with wood bars on each end to keep things from sliding off. Also had to retrofit a silverware holder.

Comments about Dish Rack - Folding by Better Housewares:

The horizontal cross bars are paced so low they don't allow anything as wide as a standard size dinner plate, large pot lids or pizza pans to stand up in the vertical grooves. Those are such common items it significantly reduces the racks usefulness.

I replaced all four of the aluminum rivets with stainless steel screws and nuts. This was done because two of the rivets had bent and popped out in transit. The other two were getting ready to pop out, as well. Once that was done, this became an awesome drying rack.

Comments about Dish Rack - Folding by Better Housewares:

            I. Designed with no drip mat in mind: I've used 4 different mats for underneath this thing and nothing works--the pods slide all over the place on bigger mats, and this thing needs a HUGE mat. It really could use some rubber on the bottom of its feet so it wouldn't slide.
            2. THE CATCHES SLIP, causing it to occasionally collapse unless you check up on those catches, monkey with them, make sure they're ok.
            3. LARGE PLATES WON'T balance because of another design flaw: two parallel bars going lengthwise prevent the plates from nestling into the perpendicular grooves.

I got this to replace a dishrack that broke and I must say, I'm almost glad the other one broke haha the design on this really makes the most out of space. I thought the design would look odd (with the cup holder jutting out), but it doesn't at all. What a great piece!

              Suggestion

              Q & A

              Questions about this item:
Shopper: did anyone else feel like the picture of the white dish rack is misleading? The white rack is pictured with cup holders on both sides but the actual rack only has cup holders on one side.
Sondra M: I was asked to reply to your question since I bought a dish rack in 2011. However, I bought the stainless steel one that does have cup holders on both sides. I love the dish rack mainly because it folds up and can be stored under the sink when I need the counter space.
Liz M: The one I rec'd does have cup holders on both sides so far mine is working great although I'm not convinced that it is actually stainless steel but rather painted silver....?
Margaret A: The one I received has cup holders on both sides. I was very pleased with the product.
Shari W: Mine has cup holders on both sides
Martin W: No. We're very happy with the rack.
Michael M: How curious. I bought the gray one a year ago and it has holders on both sides. I would feel misled if it was not as pictured. Nor would I think as highly of the product with the holders on only one side.
Kim H: Yes, it is misleading. Plus this dish rack was so weak that we couldn't load it up with our dishes. It didn't last long with us. I do not recommend it.
Crystal R: I purchased the chrome one and it had cup holders on both sides just like the one pictured.
Ruth G: This picture shows the steel grey color which does have cup holders on both sides. The product information specifically states that this one has both, but the white has only on one side.
Ruth G: Mine has cup holders on both sides.
Shopper: Is there a tray or something under it to catch the drips? Or do you have to buy that separately?
Doreen K: No tray was included. The opening on the top is quite wide and some dishes don't stay upright, otherwise am very pleased.
Dana H: No, there is not a tray attached to the base of the rack or in the package with it. I have used a thick towel, but any sort of rubber-type tray (from Wal-Mart or wherever) would be very good to have.
              Maria M: Buy it separately!
Robert C: I had a drip tray already that is open on one end so it drains into the sink.
Michael M: No, there is not. We use one of those absorbent counter pads instead of a tray. It works very well and is much easier to store than a plastic tray. Overall, I am very happy with this dish rack.
Ruth G: You need to buy one separately.
James V: You will need to place a tray or other product underneath however, this product is WELL worth the money as we searched the entire internet looking for a smaller dish rack that stores a lot but doesn't take up much counter space. This is the one! Having the fingers on the top ends for hanging cups is what really makes the difference. We'd buy it again in a heartbeat.
Charlene L: You will have to buy a tray separately. Also, I found that my large dinner plates do not fit in the rungs very securely. They tend to fall backwards. Smaller luncheon size plates are fine.
Cathy F: There is no tray, just the rack. You have to buy the tray separately.
Barb Z: I bought this rack and absolutely love it. It cleans up nicely and does not mold like some wooden ones do. I use an absorbent towel pad (about 18" X 15") and it absorbs all of the water, can be easily washed and looks nice too. The rack does not come with any type of water collection. Hope this helps. Barb
Dorothy F: I don't remember if there is a bottom tray, but I use mine on the kitchen counter and wipe underneath occasionally. This works fine. It has held up well for 1 1/2 years and I would buy it again.
Robin R: No, you have to buy that separately. I bought a clear plastic dish drainer tray and you don't really notice it on the counter top. Overall this is a very nice dish rack!
Martin W: No tray. I bought a clear plastic tray for about 3 bucks . It looks great under the rack. Enjoy.
eileen m: You need to buy it separately.
              Comment(s) about this item:
              Janet M: Space saving storage
barbara e: I like this disk rack because it is made of steel and can be put in the dishwasher. Also, it can be periodically disinfected. Plastic can not be and germs can harbor in them
              Dennnis E: I have a similar one
JESSICA W: I wanted something that would fold for easy storage out of sight and to take up less space. I also saw this chosen as a top pick for drying racks at Real Simple.
Kathleen P: Doesn't take up a lot of room on the counter; have a similar one; love the cup holder design.
Nancy C: This looks like my old one and should hold everything except silverware. That is the one piece of the product that's missing!! A silverware cup attachment or basket.
C Nannet W: Sometimes there isn't enough to use the dishwasher when my husband is away. This won't take up room on the counter & when I don't need it.
Erin B: I own one and love it.
Lynn P: I have a similar one to this that I have had for many years and it needs replacement. This item had good reviews and I already have a base that should fit just fine.
Margherita M: For the cup capacity
So Young J: Have used before and loved it!
Sally E: Real Simple Magazine rated this in the top 7 dish drainers.
Brian B: Even though we have a dishwasher, we needed something compact and elegant looking to hand wash and dry a few items. Also it had to be compact. This fit the bill perfectly
Ursula V: It fits my sink dimensions and met my needs in color
Symone E: It is space saving
Susan M: I have one and can't find a replacement locally for this item.
Angela P: My rack broke, I was looking for a new folding rack...wanted to try a steel one
AMIE B: Have used this style for years and love it, but cannot find it in retail stores anymore!
AMIE B: Have used this style for years and just love it. Used to buy it everywhere but cannot find it in regular stores anymore.
Penny F: Saw it in Real Simple -- it looks compact and versatile.
Sherri N: I have a similar one in bamboo that I love, but it is now breaking, so I need to replace it. The steel will match my kitchen better too.
Gina S: It looks like a nice space saving design for an affordable price.
Rachel P B: I've had one like this for a very long time and It finally was time to get a new one. I was so happy to find it here!
Elizabeth K: I've owned this product and replaced it with the single cup capacity item, which does not fit my needs. Therefore I'm ordering the larger dish rack.
Rebecca F: Size, Price, Green Efficiency, Smart looking design.
Jane C M: Have very limited countertop and storage space. This seems like it will work.
Kathy H: Saw advertised in Real Simple magazine. We have a dishrack we have held onto for years because of the cup-holding capacity. I am excited to get a new one finally!
Ruth G: When not in use I like to store the rack under the sink. Because it folds, it fits.
James V: Stores a large amount of dishes without taking up too much counter space. Works the best compared to all others, especially with the fingers on the top ends for cups.
Charlene L: Wanted to replace a folding dish rack that had rusted out over the years. I liked the idea of the rack folding up to be able to store it away when not in use. This one is not as heavy duty as the old one and I find that my large dinner plates do not sit in the rungs very securely. They tend to fall backwards. Luncheon size plates are fine.
eileen m: I needed something big. I don't use it very often anymore - it takes up a lot of room on the counter, but it fold up under the sink nicely.
Roxanne B: I've had one of these drying racks for lots of years and it's now chipping and rusting so I'm replacing it. Works super as we have a small kitchen with limited counter space and I like to fold it up and put it away.
Noreen R: Saw it written up in Real Simple Magazine
Elayne C: a friend has one and i like using it
Maureen M: Saw it in Real Simple magazine and looked good
Kelly M: I have one I bought years ago and the plastic coating over the metal is flaking off. I love this because it takes up almost no space under the sink. It is great to dry bottles on. I use my dish rack everyday and I believe the steel one will last even longer than the one I currently have did.
Liz M: It replaces one that I have very similar to it. Currently the plastic coating is coming off & the metal is rusting. I saw this in SkyMall on an AirTran flight... I'm so excited to find one that has open ends so I can hang cups upside down to drain!
David B: Flexible design and reasonable cost
Sheila J: It is compact, has an efficient design, is washable, and complements stainless steel appliances.
Julie R: I saw this in Real Simple magazine. It's a nice size and won't get moldy like my wooden rack.
carol l m: My cousin actually has this item, I sen it at her house and I just had to have it. I can't wait to get mine!! Wa Whoop Whoop Whoop!!!
