Not only was it "messy" looking, it was hard to find the spices I was looking for when cooking. I bought two of these shelf units and now my spices are organized and easy to find. Shopper: How many spice jars does each shelf hold?
Sheila C: I don't use the expandable stairstep shelf organizer for spices. I used it to hold medications, vitamins and herbs. It will hold approximately 36 2-2/2 round bottles. I love it. Sorry for the delay in responding.
Evelyn A: Yes, the expandable stairstep organizer is great. The organizer has enough space for spices and you can also use it for cans of food. I highly recommend this organizer and am very satisfied that I have it.
Lori T: I'm not sure how many spice jars this organizer will hold. I use mine for storing bottles of dipping oils, sauces, flavored vinegars, and condiments. Used for that purpose, the organizer holds 15 bottles.

Patsy W: Since I have my racks expanded to 25 inches, and my spice jars are 2 to 2.25 inches wide, I figure you could put about 10 on each rack or 30, total. I keep my spices in a pull out drawer and use the expandable stairstep shelf organizers in my pantry for canned food.They are a great addition to our pantry.

Debbie Z: I bought this to use in my motor home to store can goods. Off the top of my head, I think it holds about 8-9 cans across. Not sure what size your spice jars are, but hopefully that helps to give you an idea by comparing your spice jars to a standard can food.
Vivian B: If you're using smaller jars that you get in the grocery store, a shelf holds about ten or twelve. I have about 100 spice jars of varying sizes, and find the expandable shelves are a big help.

Amy S: I am not sure about that. We use it for canned goods, rice, pasta, and jarred food in our pantry. I imagine it would hold a lot. Each shelf is deep enough that you could probably put 2 jars on each level. Hope this helps!
Nancy L: It depends on how far you expand it. Measure the width of your spice jar and the width of your cupboard, and do the math.
Heather V: We have 12 jars on each level but we only have it expanded 22 inches.
Irene W: Maureen, I use my shelf organizers for canned goods and just love them, so nice not to be moving cans around to see what is in back, don't know how I did it before. I would guess about 8-10 average sized spice jars
per step or about 24-30 per organizer. Hope this helps.
