Comments about Hook and Go Rolling Cart for Shopping Bags - Hook n Go:

We had purchased this product thinking it had been redesigned to carry the new environmentally friendly cloth bags. The old plastic bags work fine on the Hook N Go, but the cloth ones, with larger capacity and longer carry straps, drag against the wheels. The manufacturer should consider raising the fold-out carry bar about 4-6 inches higher. Just a suggestion.

            Q & A

            Questions about this item:
Shopper: Can I take this on a city bus?
Kathy J: It would have to sit out in the aisle some. You could possibly pull it toward you enough to allow people to get by.
Frank O: I never have done it, but yes. The cart is easy to carry and takes no space.
robert j: I would think you could. It folds up nicely. It is heavier than I thought, but I like that it is build solidly. I keep mine in the back fo my car and unload my groceries which I iften have to cary on the city streets about a 1/4mile. It is the best cart I have ever found.
Bonnie L: Perhaps, but it is not very stable with a full load of groceries. Would be difficult to get up the steps.
Richard R: I don't know how well it would work fully loaded on the bus. You would need assistance.
Richard R: I keep it folded in the trunk of my car. I wheel it around even when empty. You could fold it just to get on the bus
Shopper: Can you use cloth bags with this cart? One review said bags with handles that are longer than the plastic store bags can't be used because they drag on the wheels.
            Awating answer from previou buyer(s)
Shopper: How do you like this shopping bag caddy?
Lisa S: I really like the cart. I bought it to use at our Farmer's Market and it has made carrying all of the bags much less of a hassle. It's sturdy and easy to use. I have no hesitation recommending it.
Linda T: This is the BEST! I am a 54 year old woman who lives in a home with numerous steps, and after returning from the grocery I am getting a little too old to make a dozen trips up and down these stairs carting heavy bags of groceries. I load this baby up with about a dozen bags and pull it up the steps behind me. I LOVE it...it has changed my life...and that is an endorsement of the highest order. This product is extremely well made and it was worth every cent...and... if I live long enough to wear this one out...I will buy another one....just like it. I have named my buddy, "Spot" because he follows me everywhere I go... :-)
james e. t: I just love the caddy, thanks.
Shopper: How large/heavy is this when fully folded? For instance, could you easily carry it around in a tote when not in use?
            H F: Thanks, I don't have a car, so I don't think this will meet my needs. :-)
Richard R: I'd say that it's too heavy to carry around in a tote. It's made of steel. I keep it in the trunk of the car. It's great to bring all the groceries into the apartment all at once from the garage parking to the 14th floor and down the long hall. Next trip to the car I put it back in the trunk. I actually wheel it back to the car then fold it up.
Kathy J: I have no idea the weight - don't have a scale or would let you know - however, it is about 32 inches long/tall and 12 inches at the widest point (when fully folded the wheels angle out). I held it fully folded in my arm with a year old shoulder replacement and it wasn't' bad - if that tells you anything. If it were in a tote and you could put that over your shoulder or cross body you could probably carry it around for a good distance of walking. Not sure how long in time or distance I would want to lug it around but if you're stronger than me (which wouldn't take much) it would be okay. Just note the height and width realizing it will take up some space if you were thinking of being in crowded places. The site should tell you the weight.
Bonnie L: I would find it quite heavy in a tote. I would use its wheels to move it about.
Flavia O: No, you could not. It is large and a little bulky.
Shopper: How many bags does it hold?
Patricia S: It varies, depending on contents, etc., I have had as many as 10. Love it!
Dean D: The number of bags it will hold depends more on the bulk in the bags than the weight in the bags. If the bags weigh more but are less bulky - think wine bottles rather than cereal boxes - you can actually carry more total bags. By the way, always load front to back to balance the load. On average, we carry six or seven bags comfortably. It would hold more but be more difficult to maneuver. No matter how many it holds, we would not live without one.
Richard R: I'm speaking of the typical plastic bag at Safeway, Giant, etc. It can easily hold up to 8 or 10 depending on how they are filled. I put one "layer" on each side and then add another layer over the same hooks. I can bring a shopping cart of groceries from the car up the elevator to my apartment in one trip.
Shopper: Looks like this would be wonderful to take to Farmer's markets. Has anyone used it for that? I'm tired of carrying all the bags of fruits and vegetables around!
Frank O: I take it to the farmers' market every Wednesday morning.
Jeannette F: The Hook and Go is PERFECT for farmers market shopping. It's easy to carry, open, close, store - not much more bulky than a large umbrella. Balances well. Lots of hooks for bags. Saw it originally being used in my local FM and sought it out.
Kathy J: It would be excellent for the Farmer's Market. I load bags on it from my trunk to the house and it is so easy and it moves along so smoothly. It will hold straps from reusable bags and plastic too. Just make sure if you have heavy items to make sure your bag will support it. I've really enjoyed mine and consider it one of the wiser purchases I've made.
Stephanie K: That is why I purchased it, too - To be honest though, it's maybe not the most useful cart for farmers markets. When heavily loaded, you have to keep it well balanced, or it will tip over. I've also found it's particularly unsuited to carrying peaches, nectarines, berries and other delicate items, because even when well-balanced, the bags tend to move and jostle, bumps against each other, etc, resulting in bruised fruit. Additionally, the hook bar is not very high , so heavily laden bags or larger reusable bags sometimes drag on the ground. If you're travel on public transit, and need something portable, and recognize it's limitations (ie - smaller bags, balancing, the need still to carry delicate items, etc...) then it might work for you. It just didn't end up working well for me.
Bonnie L: We have not tried it for farmers' market, but I can tell you that a lot of our reusable bags have handles that allow the bag to drag on the ground if we don't hook them over multiple hooks or shorten them in some way. Rather annoying.
