    Good things: \n\nkeeps knives and sharp shiny things up above the reach of children (till they learn to climb on the counter). \n\nkeeps knives out and open and ready for the chef!! \n\nknives air dry, no trapped moisture like a block\n\nNot so good thing:\n\nI'm not so good about the metal on metal contact. This is why I like my fine knives in a drawer, knife bag/holster, or in a block.

        I have two of these, one for knives and one for cooking utensils above the stove. I like them so well that I bought two for my son on his birthday. He has a small daughter and now there is little chance she will be able to hurt herself on the sharp kitchen knives. Even if she could reach them, I don't think she could pull them off the magnet.
