The strong MDF back is recessed, fitting perfectly into the four sides of the unit. Also features holes and dowels for sturdy stacking. Includes matching plugs for finishing the dowel holes. I think the best selling point of this storage cube is that you can buy a bunch and stack them sideways / upwards / etc. It's almost as if you are building a shelf as you need more storage. I only have 1, so for me, this product is a 3 star product, but I gave it 4 stars, because I know that if I get 2 or 3 or more, I will likely fall in love.

I used one block for my husband's junk that usually ets dropped onto the counter- a screw driver he didn't have time to return to the basement, or a part broken off something he will fix "later". Most odds and ends just get get dropped onto the counter and I have to find a home for it. Now, everything goes into his box, it's safe, out fof the way and looks attractive sitting on top of the microwave.

I have an old kitchen, it is small and we cannot redecorate. I hated seeing the toaster, blender and other small appilances all over the counters. Now they are all hidden. We made holes in the back of the unit for the plugs. Now we just open the door, slide out the toaster and we are good to go. When it has cooled, we slide it back in. We found thin plastic cutting mats that we put under the appliances so they would slide in and out easily. Appliaces are hidden, convenient and the counters are organized and attractive. Before our choices were hide them under the cabinet, what a pain pulling them out and plugging them in, or leaving everything out. My kitchen looks much more modern and organised now. Even outlets are hidden.

I ordered several "mix-n-match" cubes and this one - with the door - was the best. Wish I had ordered more. Easy to assemble, although instructions are obviously written by a non-English speaking tech! Have a bit of patience and it all comes together. The convenience of the door is great. I'm sure I'll order a couple more with doors and use the open cubes elsewhere.

We purchased a 42" HD TV and built an entertainment system under and around the TV usuing this modular storage system (in black) over two years ago. It is the perfect size and height because we built it!
We used the divided cube, door cube open cube, and double (open,divided) cube. Durable, great looking - not just for closets!!!!!
