Comments about Stacks and Stacks 9-in-1 Storage System - Open Cube:

I purchased 8 of these cubes to use as an attractive toy storage in my living room and to use behind my couch. Disappointed in scratch marks, especially on tops that would be seen, had to utilize a lot of supplied fasteners to keep unit together straight, and needed to paint back of rough particle board black as it was just visible when seated on couch.

Comments about Stacks and Stacks 9-in-1 Storage System - Open Cube:

Using the cube to make a corner floor lamp higher, but also to hide small christmas presents! It's sturdy enough that I don't need to worry about the lamp falling over. It's such a basic design that it goes with anything.

Comments about Stacks and Stacks 9-in-1 Storage System - Open Cube:

The backing for each cube is a flimsy board compared with the sturdy sides. If the backing was made of the same material as the sides, these cubes would be near indestructable.

My only other caution is the hardware used to connect the cubes: four small dowels in combination with two small metal brackets--the brackets containing two holes for screws. I arrived at a strategy of using dowels on the top of a cube to align the cube that will stack on top, and the bracket to align two columns together. No matter what stategy you use, you should not expect to be able to move connected cubes as if they were one unit. Unless you use glue with the dowels, they are never really secured to one another.

Bottom line: I believe these economical cubes are versatile and will work for most informal scenarios.
