We use this case to house a significant portion of our collection of CDs, DVDs, manga, and mass-market paperback books. It's sturdy, was moderately easy to assemble (adding the backing was the hardest part), and is lightweight enough when empty to be moved fairly easily. The shelves are exceedingly stable once they are anchored, and although it is difficult to move them once they have been anchored it is not impossible.
If we could go back and build it again, however, we wouldn't add all of the decorative molding. The top molding in particular is slightly ill fitted, and significantly impedes space-efficient use of the top shelf. The vertical molding hides the DVD/CD closest to it on either side, but does seem to aid a little in the overall stability of the unit and definitely adds to the asthetic of the unit, and so might be worth it.

Overall, we like the media tower. It provides a great of space for our large DVD collection without taking up a vast amount of space. We didn't like the decorative trim on the front because the trim takes away from easy accessibility to DVDs. The back paneling was difficult to line up and install.

[...] since I had assembled a similar one before, it was not as difficult as it might be for the uninitiated. One back brace was broken, but Gorilla Glue and I were undeterred. If the package of screws is all the same, you will run out of the short ones in the end and have extra long ones. I had to buy several silver ones at [...] and dab on a bit of black paint to finish. Make sure you have a 10 x 10 space to assemble in. My husband is thrilled to get all his CDs and DVDs out of boxes in the basement - and so am I. Now I need one for the VHS tapes.

I replaced three CD racks that, I'd outgrown and the Media Tower (2262 CD/DVD) was the best solution for future growth. This unit saved space in my home office and allowed more than enough storage for my existing collection. The cherry finish matched my cherry flooring and cherry furniture. Assembly ws easy but requires attention to details. The back panel alignment is critical to ensure the shelves lining up properly! I did have to use the recommended shelf reinforcement for shelves full with CD's. I would recommend this unit to anyone for easy installation, [...] and a great storage solution!

I have been searching for a large capacity DVD rack for a month or two. Every DVD rack that's of large capacity is rather pricey. This rack holds about 936 dvds for around [$]. This is the best bang-for-the-buck anywhere on the web. TRUST ME...I've looked. It is heavy and huge. The assembly took a couple of hours...and it was a pain to stand the thing up. Best if it is a two person job. It is a great loooking impressive rack when it is filled. One shelf tends to dip in the middle ...only one out of thirty. There are these annoying faceplates (4)that coverup the spines of the DVD's. If you have doubles of a title it will easily remedy the situation. Overall I am VERY HAPPY with the purchase of this product. I would buy it again because it holds my collection of over 750 DVDs with enough space to grow...now the only problem is filling it!!!
Comments about Venture Horizon Multi Media Tower - Holds 2262 CDs:
This easily assembled unit looks good and provides storage for a great many CDs and DVDs. The finish and fit of the unit's various pieces is very good. It took one person approximately three hours to assemble the unit. However, be warned, the unit is very heavy and unless you're an Arnold Schwarzenegger will requires two people to move it.
Achieving the good looking design wastes much space since several CD's and DVDs on each of the shelves ends are hidden behind the unit's four vertical front facades. Another dissapointment is the thinness of the individual wooden shelves. On my unit the weight of a full row of standard and slender-cased CD's causes the shelves to visibly sag in the center.
While I wouldn't recommend this unit as a showpiece, it is fully utilitarian. And, if you don't need to fully pack the unit with CD's, you'll probably be able to avoid the shelf sagging problem.
