There's no such thing as stain resistant PVC. It stained with the first pan of tomato sauce, so after a few times we pitched it. I also had to get a different mat for one sink because this only comes in one size.

The cushions work well protecting the sink and crystal/dishes, but must be removed before washing anything with a sauce. Once stained -- one of ours has an orangy tinge, probably from tomato sauce -- it's impossible to get it back to clear. We've tried soaking with baking soda and putting it in the dishwasher to no avail.
