I use the versacart to carry my hammered dulcimer and stand when I'm at the hospital playing for patients. I go from one area to another and I can just use the cart rather than putting the HD back in the case and carrying it. It goes through all doors and elevators and is a great back saver. I like the fact that it folds easily and takes up very little room in the car. it is the perfect size and has just a little extra room for essentials. It rolls easily. I live in a condo that allows pets, but they are not allowed in the common areas. My 13.5 lb. Shih Tzu comes to work with me. Every day, I place my dog in the cart, along with my purse and any paperwork I need, bring it all down the elevator and to my car. I empty the cart, fold it and store it in the trunk of my car for the ride to work. At the end of the day, I do the same on my way home. Many years ago, I lived in New York City and owned a metal shopping cart. In my retirement I am moving into a condominium and once again need such a tool. I assumed metal carts had the most storage space but after an extensive online search, I learned that this cart had more spacious dimensions. It is a real surprise - it is very easy to use, pushes comfortably, has much more room than I imagined, and even has a cover! I had my cart for two years before it broke. I loved it, and would love to replace it. I used it for everything: moving in and out of 3 apartments, hauling laundry to the laundromat, groceries on the bus or train, recycling, moving[...] flat-packed boxes of furniture, transporting piles of textbooks, everything. Its capacity, usefulness, and ability to haul things was amazing.However, like another reviewer, the lifespan for mine was 2 years. The frame, etc are sturdy metal, but the wheels are attached to the frame with plastic that will eventually give out. I wish they would replace it with metal fasteners. The height is an issue, too. I am 5ft 5in and have to hunch over to push it. If I was 4 ft tall it would be the perfect height. That said, I still want to buy another. I'm lost without it.

I purchased this cart for my son, who lives on the 9th floor of a high rise. He has complained about making several trips back and forth to his car with groceries, but this cart enables him to wheel everything inside in one trip. He has used the cart to wheel his laundry downstairs to the laundry room, as well as haul miscellaneous materials out to his car (he is a teacher and has lots of files, papers, etc.)It collapses like an umbrella stroller and fits in his truck nicely.

I am a Senior Citizen and live on the 3rd floor of my apartment complex. I have to transport all my groceries and various items from my car to the elevator and then on to my apartment. The design would be perfect for shopping while using the Public Transportation (Bus) however, the handles are for poeple no taller than 4ft. and the whole thing is held together by cheap rivets instead of screws. The wheel base could be a bit longer to roll onto the Kneeling bus vs lifting 100lbs from the middle.

I had been reading about and researching different shopping carts for awhile before settling on this one and I am quite happy. I have some health issues and needed something to help get the groceries from the car to the house and this works perfectly. So far, it has held all my purchases in just one trip and I buy lots of cases of soda, dog food and other large items.
It seems durable, is easy to roll and I like the built in cover. The cart has come in handy for other uses too. (Throw a trash bag in it and it holds the bag open for leaves) I highly recommend this bag.

I keep this cart in my car trunk and use it about every two weeks to haul groceries from my car to my apartment (I have to traverse a parking lot and long sidewalk to get to my apartment door; a pain when you have heavy stuff you bought like cases of soda or laundry detergent). I load up the cart and hang the light bags on the handles to maximize capacity.

I also use it to take my heavy trash bags to the dumpster. I've had this cart about a year and have had no problems with it. It is durable and well made and takes up relatively little space in my trunk when folded up (it folds like an umbrella stroller).

I've had lots of neighbors see me and comment what a handy, great item this is. It would be great especially for the elderly but really for anyone who does not want to make multiple trips to unload the car!

This cart is great for shopping at the mall, hauling groceries, moving your kid into his dorm room, etc.. Have even given some as gifts. My mother absolutely loves hers throughout the year, but especially while Christmas shopping. I bought this cart to go about a 1/2 mile to the grocery store. I needed something to carry a lot of groceries and still be easy to push and manover. This cart works great and is just what i was looking for. It holds alot of bags and is still easy to push, even uphill. It is well made, but the only thing I would change is to make the handles longer as I am tall and would like them a little higher up. All in all, a good product for the money.

I love this thing. I live on the 15th floor and I use it almost daily to transport groceries & other stuff upstairs. It's lightweight, easy to store in the trunk or behind the front seats of my car, and it holds a lot of groceries. It's a little taller than most folding wire carts, making it more comfortable for me to push, and there are no holes for things to fall through. I just bought my second one- the first one, which I've had for three or four years, is still in pretty good shape but I didn't want to risk being unable to find one when it does wear out. Now I'm using the original as a laundry hamper on wheels.
I'd have been happy to buy a replacement bag if they'd been available, since the frame is still sturdy.

What you should know is how light, but strong this cart is. It has swivel wheels in the front so it glides effortlessly, not unlike a child's stroller. We bought this cart because it promised to be sturdy enough for our use. We use this cart for shopping for food and refreshments for our various workshops and presentations. The first time we used it we were shopping for food to serve lunch at one of our workshops, and the frame of the shopping cart broke while my co-worker was crossing the street on her way back to our office. The metal frame came apart underneath the liner and someone had to go to help my co-worker carry the groceries back. A friend of ours was able to work out a way of attaching the broken pieces together. So now the cart doesn't close right, and we have to use a velcro strip to hold it together. This cart has wheels that are very difficult to steer, which makes it difficult to go in a straight line, and also difficult to swerve around people and other obstacles in your path.

The good things are that it holds a lot, and that the liner has a cover.
But I would not recommend this cart to anyone, based on our bad experience with it.

I purchased this for my mother who moved into a Senior Community. She is on the 3rd floor, and had trouble bringing groceries in without making several trips in the elevator. This product is WONDERFUL for her! I am actually thinking of buying her another so she'll always have one both upstairs and in the car trunk as there are times she has to run down to the car to get the cart before bringing laundry to the laundryroom, etc. It steers just like a child's stroller - turns on a dime and has locking wheels & folds up just like an umbrella stroller - convenient to store. This is the best cart I have found! Its sturdy and you can put quite a lot in it. My husband and I live upstairs so we each have one in the trunk of our car so that we can easily bring grocheries, etc in one trip from our car to our home via the elevator to our second floor dwelling. I love the easy fold/unfold and style of this cart and it manuevers easily just like a stroller would. I have filled it to capacity many times and it held on (although I have a feeling the handles and wheels may not last as long as I hoped- but time will tell). This cart is an excellent buy! It is larger than most and a good deal of stuff of various sizes can be carried in it. My daughter loves it--baby in one hand, all groceries etc. in the cart! Ive owned many diffrent folding carts and this is the BEST for it's size. I buy mine from a vendor in NJ through Amazon and I've been very happy. The cart can have some wheel problems but you just need to be a little careful with them - the wheels on those metal carts don't last as long as these. The only cart better is the Wonder Wheeler which is better for bigger loads. By the way, I regularly OVERLOAD these carts and they manage just fine. This one folds down to a tiny size for stashing in a closet or car. The one problem I've had is the thing that connects the bag to the cart breaks but I just pull it together with a plactic cable tie and keep going. ANY minor deficits are very much overcome by the tremendous convenience.

I live in New York City and use ths cart extensively for all my shopping - so it's a lot of walking and schlepping! The stroller-like foldaway design makes it much easier to run other errands without dragging around a bulkier cart (like - you can go to brunch with the cart and go shopping after). I do have issues with the construction and, like another reviewer, the height. I have to stoop to push it and I'm 5'8". Also - the back wheel attachment issue is a REAL problem. I am on my third cart because after 6 months the wheel axle will wear through the struts and wobble. It's useless after that. Because of this, the claim that it can carry up to 100 lb is bogus. 50 lb tops - and don't do that too often! The whole cart is made very sturdily except for the way the wheels are attached (a rod through a hole in the back legs). This is a serious flaw. If you are OK with paying $50 for a cart that will break after 100 or so trips -then go for it. If you live in a city and do a lot of shopping on foot - either resign yourself to spending this money for the fold-up convenience and "chicness" of the Versacart - or just stick to the old metal granny cart!

I'm not one to write reviews typically. But this is literally one of the best items I ever purchased. We live on the 3rd floor of an apartment building that has an elevator but our car is parked in the parking garage which seems like MILES away when you are hauling heavy groceries to the house. This cart takes care of all the agony of that. I also use it to take 3 large loads of laundry at a time - plus detergent bottles - to the laundry room (which also seems like MILES away when you have to carry a sack of laundry over your back or - even worse - have some laundry basket digging into your hip). I also don't have to worry about anyone SEEING my dirty laundry as the cart is fully enclosed in a sturdy fabric and has a velcro-enclosed flap on top to completely cover up what's inside. I've also used the flap to protect my dry clothes on a rainy day as I've come back from the laundry room. I was soaked, but my clothes were still dry and clean. The flap is made of the same fabric so if you don't want to use it, you can just leave it hanging inside or outside the cart with no worries of it getting squished or ruined (even when the cart is folded up the fabric top is fine). The wheels make for easy movement unless you have a particularly heavy load of groceries when it gets to be hard to maneuver. I am still giving it 5 stars though because even a grocery cart is hard to maneuver when it's full of heavy groceries. The absolute BEST part about the VersaCart though, is the fact that it folds up to the size of a folded-up stroller. Unlike the metal carts (which have snagged my clothes by the way and do not fold up anywhere near as small as this one), you can store it in the hall closet in a space smaller than a vacuum. This was imperitive for us as we live in a small apartment with very little storage room. I now keep the VersaCart in the trunk of my car for those spontaneous grocery trips and it's very easy to handle and get open and closed. It's lightweight too so I think even the elderly could handle it. In fact, the ederly people in my complex (there are a lot of them) are all very jealous of my cart and many of them have asked what brand it is, etc. because they want one for themselves. A few people even stopped me when I took it to the swap meet and told me what a great idea and what a nice looking cart it is. It was great there too as it's much easier than carrying around your purchases all day. And my items were out of view and out of the hot sun as they were inside with the fabric top covering it. I highly recommend this cart to anyone and I think there are many uses for it. We just used it yesterday to take our recycling down to the car! I'm only 35 but I have a bad back already so I have to be careful about carrying heavy stuff. So I highly recommend it for anyone who shouldn't carry heavy items, needs to travel far to the car, or anyone who wants to free up their hands more when they are doing chores.

I love this cart! While the wheels are not the highest quality and if you're carrying too much weight they will wobble, it is still by far the best cart I have ever had! I live in NYC and find this useful for so many things - shopping, laundry, carrying stuff to and from the car. It is extremely light and takes up very little room when folded up. I receive compliments every day- I don't dare leave it in my laundry room for fear that one of the older ladies who drool over it will walk off with it!

I have copd and scoliosis and cannot walk a long distance without sitting down. However, with this cart I can lean on it as I walk and I can walk further distances. I take it everywhere and it carries my oxygen tank, my purse, and whatever else. It is invaluable bringing my groceries into my home. I love this cart and would recommend it (and HAVE recommended it) to anyone needing assistance.

We've had this cart for about 2 years. It was working fine, until the back wheels started to wobble. Once that started the cart lasted 2 trips. The mounting for the back wheels is not superb, and once they go, that's it. Maneuvering it around the grocery store can be a pain as it has some trouble turning, even though the front wheels swivel. I've never had one of the chrome type carts where none of the wheels swivel, so I'm sure this is easier to maneuver, but don't expect it to handle like a grocery store cart. I'm not sure if those chrome carts are more durable or not, but they look like they might be. Also, it's kind of short, so if you're of 5'9" or taller expect to bend down to push it. One last thing, since the front wheels swivel and the cart is not super stable, it's nearly impossible to push with one hand.

My young adult daughter moved to an apartment and as a gift, I had this "used" cart shipped to her. She has quite a hike from the parking lot to her front door and every time it snowed this past winter, or on rainy days, I receive hugs through the ethers as she thanks me again and again. It's the perfect size for big time grocery shopping for two, or a serious clothes shopping spree! Now that I'm in a similar situaiton, I am ordering for our home.

This is the best shopping cart that we have ever owned. We have owned one for about 5 years and not only is it great for grocery shopping, but we have also used it many times for moving small heavy objects, such as boxes, books, rugs, etc. it holds so much and is very strong. And to add to it's usefulness, it folds up for storage in an out-of-the-way corner or the car.
