The stand is made with tempered glass. Unit was easy to assemble. The round joints between the shelves are made of plastic. Other than that the unit is made of nice quality parts and looks great when fully assembled.

Attractive glass shelves. Takes a little patience assembling. Heavy. Some reviews have complained that the shelves do not line up perfectly. However, if you assemble this correctly, it will not be a problem. Just make them all slightly snug (but not tight). This will give a little play for the next shelf to line up. Then when all shelves are screwed together, go back and tighten them completely...starting with the top shelf (the thick one) and working your way down until all shelves are tightened. Figure out your spacing preferences first...because doing this a second time is a pain. Now for the studs: You want to make sure that part of the stud is screwed into the top and part in the bottom (of each section). What I did was to screw the stud into one section with about 8 finger twists, then while attaching the mating section, I pressed the stud against the glass hole so that the stud will not turn when I am screwing the next section on. In this fashion, I know how mush the stud is screwed through both sections that it has tied together. You just want to make sure that the stud does not screw too far into one section while not screwing enough into the next. definitely worth the effort. Oh, and the plastic spacers do look pretty cheap, but once assembled, you cannot notice at all.
