Comments about Gear Up Deluxe Hoist System:

I wanted to use this product to store my windsurfing boards and snowboard Thule box. The metal construction is good. The pulleys are fair (I sail boats so I expect a higher level). The "rope" they give you is terrible. The line is too narrow and doesn't get a good grip on pulleys. The line needs to grip the pulley when you pull, instead it almost slides along not helping the basic block and tackle concept. I was extremely surprised how little the system helped when pulling up two boards. (Less then 60lbs). The line also jumps out of the pulley easily, and wedges between the wheel and side wall, when no weight is applied. You'll spend a few minutes on a ladder fixing this if you're not careful. The line is already fraying after lifting my boards four times. The cleating system is a cheap piece of bent metal. I bought two of these systems since they "lift" 150lbs. I would not recommend anyone does this without a spotter. If you buy this product go out and buy a thicker rope and real cleat. For long term storage this product will work but if you plan to use it more then twice a month I'd look elsewhere or build your own system. I've googled a few and for a few bucks more you can have a much better system.

Relatively easy to install - but I did use lag bolts to fasten it into joists in the garage ceiling.
          Seems to be very rugged.

Comments about Gear Up Deluxe Hoist System:

After almost purchasing a heavier and costlier device to ceiling store my cargo box (that I mostly use during the ski season), I spotted the ad for this hoist. What specifically caught my attention was the included utility straps that I could sling around the Thule box. I attached a piece of wood to the ceiling joist first, because the attachment holes are farther apart than 1.5". The brackets went up no problem and I had the Thule in the air in about one hour. I put some adhesive-backed felt on the strap clips so they wouldn't mar the finish on the box. I plan to put the crossbars from the SUV in the box at the end of the season as well. I am pleased with my purchase..

Comments about Gear Up Deluxe Hoist System:

This pulley system works well. Have a little trouble hoisting it back up in the rear. I think my small size contributes to that. But at 5'1" and 120# I was still able to do it alone.
