I don't have much cupboard space and kept my spices on a turntable on my countertop. Not only was it "messy" looking, it was hard to find the spices I was looking for when cooking. I bought two of these shelf units and now my spices are organized and easy to find. It makes cooking time easier as I'm not searching for what I need.

The pads on the shelves aren't glued down well, additionally, spices tend to "jump off" the shelves. It is good, but not great!

            Suggestion

            Q & A

            Questions about this item:
Shopper: Are you able to see your canned goods with this system? I have a huge pantry and its dark inside and I always have to take many things out to find what I'm looking for.
Vivian B: I can see my spices fine, but I have light that gets into the pantry. Probably light is more important, but having the steps helps a lot.
Jackie J: As long as you don't put small canned goods behind tall ones, this works fine for me.
Lori T: Hi Cathy, I can't really say how well the organizer works with canned goods. I used mine for storing bottles of dipping oils, cooking wines, etc. For those items, I found that it works quite well because I can at least see the top portion of each of the bottles in order to identify what I'm looking for. I'm sorry I can't give a more exact answer to your specific question. Lori
Amy D: I did not really like this product because it has shallow shelves and is very limited in what it will hold. I would recommend two different products... the dispensing can rack http://www.stacksandstacks.com/double-can-rack-by-atlantic like this one and also I used stackable shelves as it gives two tiers http://www.stacksandstacks.com/expanding-closet-shelf... something like this. Just search for these types of products and I think you will be happier
Michele P: I use them for my spices. No problem seeing what is in the back. If the cabinet is deep you may have some difficulty but I also put stick up LCD lights in my clothes closet because it was dark. Just and Idea. Good luck
Sheila C: I use the organizer to store my medicines, herbs, and vitamins. I have 9 plastic clear 1" x 1" cubes with lids. I place my daily dosages of medicines etc. in these cubes and keep on the bottom shelf so I have my AM meds, and my PM meds all ready to take for 9 consecutive days. On the two higher selves I keep the full size bottles of my meds, herbs, and vitamins. I am able to read most of them. However sometimes the printing is too low on the bottle to read it so I use an alternative method. On the bottles I cannot read, for instance my calcium. It comes in a dark green bottle with a dark green lid and a white label, but I cannot read the word calcium. However because it is the only bottle of this color, and one of two I am unable to read because of the placement of the title of contents it is easy for me to know this dark green bottle is calcium, the other bottle is white, with a kelly green lid and that is an herb. I really like the organizer. It works well and for all but two bottles I can read the label.
Sheila C: That depends on the height of the items. I use this shelf to hold my medicines, herbs and vitamins. Because of the height I am able to see the bottles on the higher shelves. I use small 1' Clear cubes to hold 9 days worth of the medicines and herbs I take on a daily basis. These I keep on the bottom shelf and can easily take one down each day. I like the organizer because it does expand and I can see the top shellf of the bottles. If the printing is too low on the bottle you cannot read it, however if the bottles have different caps it makes it easy to tell what products is in the bottle. For example my calcium is in a dark green bottle with a dark green lid,. It has a white label, I am unable to read the word calcium because of the bottle on the previous shelf. However I know it is calcium because of the bottle and cap color, and the white part of the label I can see. I hope this is a help to you. I really like the organizer.
Linda B: Hi Cathy, I use my organizer shelves for my different size spice jars. It is perfect for that and I can see all of them. I even put them in alphabetical order. They should work perfect with the cans.
Shopper: How many spice jars does each shelf hold?
Sheila C: I don't use the expandable stairstep shelf organizer for spices. I used it to hold medications, vitamins and herbs. It will hold approximately 36 2-2/2 round bottles. I love it. Sorry for the delay in responding.
Evelyn A: Yes, the expandable stairstep organizer is great. The organizer has enough space for spices and you can also use it for cans of food. I highly recommend this organizer and am very satisfied that I have it.
Lori T: I'm not sure how many spice jars this organizer will hold. I use mine for storing bottles of dipping oils, sauces, flavored vinegars, and condiments. Used for that purpose, the organizer holds 15 bottles.
karen c: Depending on the size of the jar, if you extend it all the way out, over twenty.
            Douglas R: 10 per shelf, 12 - 13 in extended mode.
Patsy W: Since I have my racks expanded to 25 inches, and my spice jars are 2 to 2.25 inches wide, I figure you could put about 10 on each rack or 30, total. I keep my spices in a pull out drawer and use the expandable stairstep shelf organizers in my pantry for canned food. They are a great addition to our pantry.
Margaret S: most of my spices are 2oz....one row (expanded) holds 12 jars.
Debbie Z: I bought this to use in my motor home to store can goods. Off the top of my head, I think it holds about 8-9 cans across. Not sure what size your spice jars are, but hopefully that helps to give you an idea by comparing your spice jars to a standard can food.
Vivian B: If you're using smaller jars that you get in the grocery store, a shelf holds about ten or twelve. I have about 100 spice jars of varying sizes, and find the expandable shelves are a big help.
Linda B: I counted 34 spice jars of various sizes when extended. This was a good by for me and I brought four of them.
Maureen H: I would like to thank you ALL for info. I may use one unit for canned goods, although, must get spices organized first!!!
Joleen W: I can fit 13 round spice jars with it fully expanded.
Amy S: I am not sure about that. We use it for canned goods, rice, pasta, and jarred food in our pantry. I imagine it would hold a lot. Each shelf is deep enough that you could probably put 2 jars on each level. Hope this helps!
Nancy L: It depends on how far you expand it. Measure the width of your spice jar and the width of your cupboard, and do the math.
Heather V: We have 12 jars on each level but we only have it expanded 22 inches.
Irene W: Maureen, I use my shelf organizers for canned goods and just love them, so nice not to be moving cans around to see what is in back, don't know how I did it before. I would guess about 8-10 average sized spice jars per step or about 24-30 per organizer. Hope this helps. Irene

Vivian B: I have a lot of spices and dried herbs, and needed space and shelves to organize them. This works nicely, and everything is visible now.
Linda B: I chose this item to put some order to my pantry shelves. I brought 4 of them and they are perfect. The 3 tier expandable display system was just what I needed for all my spices.
Robert D: Need something to organize the spice cabinet without repurchasing spices and using bulk spice jars and this item has correct dimensions and form to do this well.
James H: I need something to display collection of small items
Donna N: Read the reviews & size fits
Tina P: I have had these for years. Buying some for my son and daughter in-law and their newly remodeled kitchen.
Paula F: I can't find things in my pantry. It's an old house and storage was not plentiful back then.
Maureen H: This is my third set, and, I cannot tell you how impressed I am with them. The first set was to organize my Spice jars, and the second/third set are for canned good. What a difference, everything looks sooo neat, and, organized. I would recommend them to anyone.
Maureen H: Having used these to organize all my spice jars, I ordered these to, hopefully, organize ALL my canned goods in my pantry. I am very impressed with quality of Stairstep Shelves also.
Maureen H: To save space with ALL my spice jars
Irene W: I got the Stairstep organizer to elimate moving cans around to see what was in back. I have 4 of them and just love them. So nice to be able to see everything at one time, instead of moving cans around all the time.
