Even if you live in an apartment or have very little yard space, the Worm Factory 360 - Composting Worm Bin System allows you to have your very own home-made compost! This system uses everyday kitchen scraps and turns it into nutrient-rich worm castings, the perfect material for a thriving garden.
The Worm Factory 360 - Composting Worm Bin System is designed to make it easy for anyone to set up and get started in making home-made compost soil! Vermicomposting is a unique, environmentally friendly way to dispose of organic kitchen scraps while creating a rich fertilizer for your garden. The compact size of this compost bin makes it ideal for homes that are tight on space. Made from high density polyethylene, this bin system is extremely durable while remaining fairly lightweight.
How It Works
This worm farming system is extremely easy to use and get started. Included with this system is an instructional video that aids in set up. First, start with a single bin that has been filled with organic-based kitchen scraps such as egg shells, paper towels, coffee grinds and more. Add a handful of worms to the bin and place the ventilation lid on the top, and they will immediately begin to process the food. Add a second tray filled with scraps, and the worms will move on after they have completely processed the lower bin. The process can be repeated up to eight times, as the system is able to accommodate up to eight bins. The bins have a unique Thermo Siphon Airflow design, which allows fresh air to enter the bins while preventing light from penetrating. The vented lid allows the accumulated gas and heat escape as it builds up. The bins have a capacity of between 8,000-12,000 worms that are able to consume five to eight pounds of food/paper waste a week, which generally provides a full tray of the nutrient-rich worm castings each month! Each tray is able to hold a total of 12.5 pounds of compost.
Clean up is no issue with this compost system - it is designed so all the worms leave each tray when the food scraps have been completely processed. The ideal temperature range for composting is between 45 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit, and a thermometer is included to ensure your compost is within that range. It is recommended that the compost system be used outdoors during the summer and indoors during the winter. Because the system features an odorless design, you will never notice the bin is indoors!
Included with this system is: 4 compost bins, 1 ventilation lid, 1 base with a leachate (compost tea) collector and spigot, 1 worm bedding kit, 1 hand-rake, 1 scraper, 1 thermometer, 1 coir brick, 1 instructional video, and a 16-page instruction manual. The system has a life expectancy of 30 years and has a 10 year warranty.
