Comments about Panacea Over the Door Food Storage Rack:

I use this on the back of my walk-in pantry door. I have it hanging from the door but haven't needed to secure it to the door itself. This is a door that stays open all the time, though. I suppose if we actually used the door, the rack would bang annoyingly against the door when opening and closing. The quality is very good for the price and it's exactly as advertised. It doesn't hold nearly as much as I was hoping, though.

              Suggestion

              Q & A

              Questions about this item:
Shopper: Are the spaces between the wires narrow enough that small bathroom objects will not fall through?
barbara c: Dear Jessica: The distance between the slats on the shelves is 4/10s of an inch. I feel that most of your bathroom-type items would be fine on these shelves. You could put the very tiny things into a basket on the shelf if they were too small. My shelf is being used as a pantry overflow area and we love it. We also bought under cupboard shelving for our bathroom and kitchen cabinets which roll in and out and love those also. Hope this helps! Barbara C.
Linda F: I have small fingers and my fingers barely fit between the wires on all the bottom shelves as well as the wires in front on the top 4 shelves. There is more space on the sides as well as the front of the bottom two shelves. Small things could fall through there. I hope that helps.
Shawn D: No. Smaller items will fall through.
Marlene B: Hi Jessica, The space is about 1/2" but if that is too big for your bathroom items, you might want to consider lining the bottom of the shelves with something. I can tell you that I find the Storage System very useful. Mine is hanging inside of my kitchen pantry door. I find it indispensable! I'm very happy to have found it. I hope that this answer is helpful to you! Thanks for asking.
Shopper: Does it truly hang OVER THE DOOR, without using any hardware to attach it to the door?
Alysia B: Yes it works very well...I would recommend it to anyone. Really nice storage.
David R: Yes, the over the door 6 shelf storage system truly hangs over the door and does not use any hardware. It is easy to put together and hangs independently of any hardware. I found it so useful in my bathroom that I bought a second one for a storage closet where I keep medical supplies, hair dryers, and other miscellaneous products. I live in a condo that isn't very big and the extra storage space these shelving units provide is very valuable to me.
Sheila M: Hi Sandi H. Yes it really does hang over the door. But I did fasten it to the door also, because otherwise it would kind of bang against the door when you opened and closed it, and I didn't like that!! I can't remember for sure, but I think they had sent the 2 plastic pieces along, so you could attach if you wanted!! Hope this helps you!!! Sheila
              Pamela D: Yes...have had it a year now...the best
Shawn D: Yes, it hangs with no hardware to attach it to the door.
Shopper: Has anyone hung this on a door that about 1 3/4" thick? All my doors (closets and bathroom) are just about that.
Vanessa B: My door measures 1 6/16 and it is a perfect fit at the top. Love the unit! It has worked perfectly for us the two years we have had it.
Michael Q: We bought two units and our doors are a little over an inch and a half. We found the product worked very well for our needs and we store a lot of cleaning stuff in one and canned goods and smaller food boxes in another, very satisfied with our purchase.
Maria W: I hung this on an exterior door that is approximately 1 3/4" thick and it fit nicely. I did have trouble with closing another door that this rack was hanging on previously, due to the over the door hangers. But the wrack does not effect the closing of the door it is on now. And it can be drilled directly into the door as well, if the hangers are not the right size or if you want it to fit more snugly to the door.
Carol M: I hung it on a standard six panel door. It has increased my storage and I would recommend it to anyone who needs extra storage.
Janessa A: There are over-the-door hooks that can be purchased separately at major hardware stores that fits doors. Just attach the hooks to this shelf, and you're good to go. I had to do the same thing.
Babara B: My door measures just under l 1/2 inches and there's not much space for a wider door. If your doors are 1 3/4 " i don't think this mode would fit. I would think the mfg. or seller could measure it for you. Hope this helps. I love my over the door shelves. I have three of them but they are different kinds. The last time it was hard to find a source.
Shopper: How easy is it to install? Does it rattle on the door when opened or closed?
Michele B: Very easy to install. It can rattle on the doorway a bit, but does it less when there are heavier items on the shelves. I feel it was a good buy for what I needed.
Mary O: Yes it was easy to install. It does bounce a bit, but I can't remember if it came with hardware to hold it to the door.
Vanessa S: I was able to put it together relatively easily. It is two parts when assembled so it's not as solid as I would have liked for my use. My husband added a couple zip ties for added connectivity. I'm using it as a gift wrap organizer so my items are not as heavy as canned goods might be. It does rattle on the door a little bit but again it may be my particular application. I am pleased with it overall.
Deborah R: Question 1: The rack comes disassembled: 4 side rails (2 for each side, with 2 clips to attach side rails together), 2 over-the door hooks, and the adjustable shelves (a definite plus). It's extremely easy to assemble and disassemble and fit our doors without any problem. We hung it on the inside of our pantry door in a small townhome that we were renting, then we used it on the outside of a door in a house we later rented because we wanted to cover a large scratch that was there when we moved in but which the landlord wouldn't repair. I stored my spices on the adjustable shelving and we received so many compliments on it! :-) One of those compliments was from my daughter-in-law who is now the happy owner of this unit...I'm not sure whether she's using it for spices, bathroom items, or in their clothes closets, but the adjustable shelves make it versatile enough for those and other uses. Question 2: It did not rattle on the door in our pantry, possibly because I had heavier items on the bottom and the smaller pantry door had a smaller swing. It did rattle some on the larger door in the house we later rented, but I think that was because the spices were lighter and it was a full size door with a wider swing and which we used often. However, it did not damage the door at all (we received our full security deposit back when we finally moved into a home we purchased) and can be easily remedied by using felt pads for furniture legs or self-stick Velcro. I hope these answers help...we loved the system. It fit our budget and our needs.
Linda K: Very easy to install... I did it myself with basic tools. It does not rattle as it is anchored at top and bottom.
Paula W: I will be putting mine up tomorrow so I will let you know
Judie D: It clips over the top of the door and has screws to fasten it to the door itself on the side rails. Very easy to attach. I have this inside a pantry door. It doesn.t rattle if you fasten the rail screws. This shelving system is great. It holds a lot of things.
magdalene m: Any 10 year old can do this, I'm in my late 70's and I've put two of them together. And it won't rattle either once you fill it with canned goods and other item and nothing falls out of the shelves either.
Judy B: I love this over the door storage rack! Very easy to install, I put a strip of Velcro on my door and around the rack to secure it from swinging when the door closed.
Todd F: Very easy to install just a couple of screws to hold stable. It does not move when you open the door. GREAT product, I looked for awhile to find this and am very pleased!!!!!
Shopper: What does "one long organizer and side by side" mean?
Darice C: The system is all in one. It fits over the over and it hangs right to the door. There are six different shelves. The side by side would be confusing. I don't really know what that means
Karen S: The organizer comes in two pieces that can be connected together for a long (top to bottom) configuration. One piece has the "over the door" feature so I am not certain how one would use the two pieces as a "side to side" configuration. Certainly, you could choose to only use the over the door piece as a short storage system, then wall mount the second half if you choose. The manufacturers intention, I believe, is for over the door, full length. Side note: I do like the fact that the shelves are adjustable to fit your storage needs. And don't be putting heavy soup cans on these. Spices, Crackers, Cereal and such is just fine. Love mine!
Susan R: I am not sure why is this organizer is described as side to side. I have it on the inside door of my pantry closet and it provides so much extra space. The organizer is narrow enough to fit my door yet it give me shelves to store all my spices, salad oils, cans, jars, etc. It was also easy to install. Maybe because it is narrow, one could purchase two and install them side by side.
Teresa A: I'm not sure what side by side means, but I love this thing. As I recall, it was simple to put together. You start with the side pieces and hang them over the door. Then, the trays connect to the side bars and you can vary the spacing between the little trays somewhat. It's been a while since I assembled this, but it's been in my garage for two years now and it holds canned goods, paper products, and various sundry things that I want up off the floor (so my doggies can't get to them!) There are other places where you can get a solid one-piece thing that looks like this...I have one of those from years ago. But, I like this one because it's more flexible in where you set the little baskets. The one piece one is just all one piece and you can't adjust anything.
Jotham T: It hangs almost the full length of an average door... there are many shelves but only ONE set of columns; thus "one long organizer... Side by side probably refers to the supporting columns; each shelf can be placed at any point to accommodate large or small items.
