    Q & A

    Questions about this item:
Shopper: Do the hooks swivel? Could I put the hooks on the wheels and hang the bike upside down?
Bess K: Hooks do swivel, so it would be possible to mount the bike upside down...
JD S: Yes, the hooks are just attached to rope so they swivel.
Erin B: I Bought This Rack Last Year. The Hooks Do Swivel. Never Thought To Hang Bike By Wheels But It Should Work.
Shopper: I have a schwinn cruiser (about 40 lbs)...will this work?
Erin B: TieYes, That Should Be Fine. Just MAke Sure You Have Somewhere To Put The Rope tie.
Nancy B: If the weight capacity of the rack is 40 lbs, then it would work. I have two hybrid bikes and the rack works fine with my bikes.
Nancy J F: Yes, I would say it is quite capable of handling 40 lbs. I believe both of our older English style bikes weigh about that. The main thing is to have the vertical height to clear cars, (or in our case in our shed) riding lawn mowers, small tractors, a small motor boat on a trailer, etc. Though the parts look lightweight it seems to work very well. We are a 59 yr old male and 61 years old female almost and either one of us can lift it with just a little tug and tension. Be sure you have the cleats installed and ready when you start to lift it though! Also, pay careful attention to the diagram and which way the parts go. As I recall we had an issue with how the rope threaded through the top to be able to make the stop work. I hope this helps. Enjoy the extra space and less to fall over down below. It is well worth it.
Shopper: The photo does not really show the end of the rope goes. is it just anchored to the wall?
Matt M: For a detailed product demonstration, take a look at the link on this product page, where it says "View Product Demo". It is very informative!
Nancy J F: We haven't had a chance to get this up yet but I watched the video on the manufacturer website and if my memory serves me right there is a cleat that gets mounted on the wall and there is a mechanism that keeps the line from slipping. I hope this helps.
Raymond G: Great rack as long as your garage ceiling is tall enough. The rope is simply looped and hung on a turn buckle that was provided with the rack. Toughest part of installation was defining the direction of rafters and making certain that the ceiling mounts were suitably anchored. Easy to use.
Jeff T: I bought this product and am thoroughly satisfied. I actually am using it for a Yakima rocket box and it works great. Would be even better with a cycle. The kit comes with a cleat, just like the ones that are used on docks for boats, but much smaller. simply wrap the end of the rope around the cleat and that's it, works perfectly!
Olin W: It attaches to an anchor/cleat that mounts on the wall. The pulleys work like window blinds....you pull the cord to release the rope.
    Comment(s) about this item:
    Rory W: Need it
Carol K: Need to make room in garage for another car.
    Brian J: Hope it works!
Polly M: Keeping our bicycles off the garage floor and having them easy to access is the reason we have purchased these racks.
Ed R: With this 'item' I can mount the bike along the garage wall and, with the pedal in the top position it will not hit me in the head. With the rope and pullies it will be easier to get down making it more likely to be used.
Kenneth O: I bought this unit 2 weeks ago. Worked exactly as promised - very convenient in the garage. I just bought a second one for my wife's bicycle.
ROBERT V: need space in garage
James M: We will use this product as a hoist mechanism to store light quilt frame.
JD S: I need to off-season store my bikes and after reviews the various products available, this seemed to be the most cost effective solution.
Howard L: I need space in my garage.
Nancy J F: It seemed logical to use top of the garage space and lower it down when needed rather than have the bike under foot and in the way to trip over.
