I've had one of these for a few years. I mounted it on the corner of my house and it runs to a hook on our garage. I like having it there when I need it and retracting it when I don't. The plastic ring on the end broke easily though (plastic + sunshine don't mix) so I replaced it with a metal ring. Also, the retracting mechanism will eventually wear out. Still, this is an affordable and efficient laundry line, and has served us well enough for a few years now that I don't use my electric dryer in the warmer months. (For socks and other small items, I have a stand-alone wooden rack – easier than hanging them on the line).

Ultimately I took this idea indoors because of condo association rules: no clothes lines. I purchased a folding drying rack also sold here. Other than heavier items like sheets/blankets I pretty much don't use a drier any more. Even energy efficient models are a energy hog, I've noticed savings on my energy bill of $10-20 a month.

It's very easy to use either an outdoor or indoor clothes drier, takes little more time than a drier. My clothes smell fresh and clean and look great.

Use to hang my exercise wear to dry after washing. When not in use it conveniently closes up where it isn't noticeable. Just what I have been searching for.

I mounted the drying line on a window frame in one corner, and the hook it attaches to on a door frame across the room. When I tried to hang my first garment, the extra line in the case dispensed and my clothing hit the floor. The product "extends up to 40 feet," but there is no mechanism to lock the line at less than 40 feet. Use all of the line, or find a really creative way to secure it, and the product functions. I thought the solid-wood frames were sturdy enough to hold the weight, but I had to reattach the door frame after a few uses. The product, however, has held up quite well. Also, even with the line taught, it will sag under the weight of a few towels or pants. This product might work best outdoors in a space where you could mount the case and the hook exactly 40 feet apart in a straight line.

With all the talk of retracting force in the product description, I half expected to "duck" when unhooking one end of the line. Turns out, that isn't the case. The instructions that come with the product are a bit vague, too. Once I got the thing up and mounted, I about decided I could have done the same thing with two eye hooks and some clothes line from the local hardware store. But, hey, it arrived ontime, intact, and does work. So, no real complaints.
